Quest Art MAC visit

During this Quest cycle, students have visited the Midlands art Centre (MAC) at Cannon Hill Park to see two fantastic exhibitions.

The first exhibition, Ways of Belonging, is a collection of photographic work by four female, Birmingham-based artists.

Here we discussed the power of these works to challenge the stereotypes and prejudices often faced by British Muslim women.

Also on show was a collection of paintings by Matthew Krishanu titled The Sun Never Sets.

Students loved the dream-like quality of these images, commenting on the sense of childhood adventure and soft focus captured in Krishanu's pastel-coloured brush strokes.

As a department we are committed to giving students the opportunity to view and discuss contemporary art in gallery settings in order to inform their own work and broaden their horizons.
