Year 10s Become ‘Reader Leaders’

At Queensbridge, we’re proud to celebrate our new Reader Leader initiative, where Year 10 students are stepping up to mentor Year 7 readers.

This fantastic project, organised by The Children’s Literacy Charity, aims to boost younger students' confidence and skills in reading while giving our Year 10s the chance to develop leadership skills of their own.

The Year 10 students recently completed a full day of training with the charity, learning how to support, encourage, and guide their Year 7 reading buddies. With their new skills and enthusiasm, they’re ready to make a real difference in helping younger students discover the joys of reading.

This initiative is a wonderful way to foster strong bonds between year groups, with Year 10s acting as positive role models for our Year 7s. We’re excited to see this program grow and thrive, as both mentors and mentees benefit from this shared love of reading.

Well done to all our new Reader Leaders – we can’t wait to see the impact you’ll have!
