Keble College - Oxford University
On Wednesday 22nd January, 30 year 9 students were taken to Keble College (Oxford University) to gain an insight into further education at one of the world's most prestigious universities.
They were an absolute credit to Queensbridge School, engaging very well with the outreach team - asking many questions about the university, UCAS applications, courses... etc. Our students learned about the variety of societies available at Oxford University, the many different courses offered and how the college system makes Oxford special.
We were also treated to a tour of Keble College, and completed a hands-on workshop at the Pitt Rivers Museum. The tour was led by current students at Oxford. This gave our year 9s the chance to ask questions about what it is like living in student accommodation, being away from home, what a typical day at Oxford is like and how to choose the best course for you. The workshop included talking about the importance of artifacts and taxidermy in studying evolution and understanding adaptations of living organisms. Some of our students were even brave enough to hold the Madagascan hissing cockroaches!
