What is the Pupil Premium?
The Pupil Premium is a government fund designed to help disadvantaged children and young people achieve in school.
The funding is allocated to schools for children from Reception to Year 11 who have registered for free school meals in the last six years (FSM Ever 6), are in care or have parents in the Armed Forces (Ever 6 Service Child).

How much Pupil Premium money does the school get and how is it used within school?
We currently have 254 pupils who qualify for Pupil Premium. This equates to 28% of our school.
- Year 7 = 39 pupils (21%)
- Year8 = 56 pupils (31%)
- Year 9 = 60 Pupils (33%)
- Year10 = 49 pupils (27%)
- Year 11 = 50 pupils (28%)
The intent of our Pupil Premium strategy is to provide equity for all pupils. We intend to provide an accessible curriculum that exposes all pupils to a breadth and depth of knowledge while supporting them in making meaning of this learning in well planned and purposeful lessons. We are also committed to offering a wider experience to our pupils that supports their cultural and social development. We intend to provide at least proportional representation of PP pupils in all that we do.

I am not sure if my child could have free school meals – how do I find out?
Do you qualify?
Your child will be eligible for Free School Meals if you get any of these benefits:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit, provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) that does not exceed £16,190
- Working Tax Credit ‘run-on’ – the payment someone may receive for a further four weeks after they stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
Pupils can qualify for Free School Meals if they get any of these benefits themselves.
